A workforce of astronomers used the Atacama Giant Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope to check the dusty disk round a newly-forming planetary system at GW Ori, a system 1,300 light-years away from the solar. GW Ori is what’s often known as a hierarchical triple star system, which means that two stars orbit one another with a 3rd orbiting across the pair.
And the GW Ori system has rings – three of them. The dusty rings are an indicator of energetic planetary formation, as that mud begins to slowly coalesce into bigger planets.
However these rings have a big hole, and even stranger the three rings are all tilted relative to 1 one other.
The researchers behind the research investigated all types of potentialities to clarify the character of the dusty rings, however couldn’t discover a proof…except there’s a planet. If there may be a number of huge, big planet within the hole between the rings, its gravity mixed with the triple nature of the star system is able to tilting the remaining rings.
