Nawanshahr: Newly appointed Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday visited Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Bhagat Singh, to pay tributes to the liberty fighter at his memorial right here.
He was accompanied by MLAs Kuljit Singh Nagra, who is without doubt one of the 4 working presidents appointed by the Congress, Raj Kumar Verka, Angad Saini, Sukhpal Bhullar, Inderbir Singh Bolaria and Gurpreet Singh GP.
There was heavy police deployment within the space and barricades have been put up.
Farmers representing the Kirti Kisan Union later blocked visitors for half-an-hour after they weren’t allowed to satisfy Mr Sidhu.
Sohan Singh Athwal of the Kirti Kisan Union stated that they had no plans to ”gherao” the brand new chief of the Punjab Congress.
He stated the farmers solely needed to lodge their protest over the alleged failure of varied political events, together with the Congress, to come back to their rescue.
Mr Athwal stated the farmers needed to query Sidhu. Site visitors was blocked as police ensured Mr Sidhu’s exit from one other route, he added.
