SRINAGAR: After a spot of two years, Kashmiri Pandits took out a Janmashtami procession to have fun the birthday of Lord Krishna right here on Monday.
Amid tight safety preparations, the procession began from the Ganpatyar temple within the Habba Kadal space of the town and handed by Kralkhud, Barbarshah earlier than reaching the clock tower on the historic Lal Chowk, officers stated.
They stated the procession crossed over the Amirakadal bridge, handed by the Jehangir chowk and returned to the temple.
The devotees, together with males, girls and kids, danced alongside the chariot and distributed sweets amongst individuals.
A senior citizen among the many devotees stated it was after two years that they had been allowed to take out the Janmashtami procession in Srinagar.
There was no procession in 2020 because of COVID-19 whereas the lockdown imposed within the wake of abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s particular standing in August 2019 had led to the cancellation of the occasion.
