That afternoon, they took the passbook – and Yadav’s corpse – to his financial institution, refusing to go away till the department supervisor launched his funds, native police officer Amrendar Kumar mentioned.

‘Villagers demanded the financial institution gave them cash from his account for the cremation or else they’d not cremate him,’ Kumar informed AFP.

‘It put strain on the financial institution, which lastly launched some cash following the intervention of the native police station.’

Canara Financial institution’s department supervisor Sanjeev Kumar mentioned the extraordinary scenes created panic.

‘It was the primary such case,’ Kumar mentioned.

‘After over an hour, I gave them cash ($135) and so they lastly left the financial institution along with his physique for the cremation floor.’

Neighbour Shakuntala Devi mentioned Yadav didn’t personal any land and didn’t obtain any assist from the federal government.
