New Delhi: The Delhi Excessive Court docket on Tuesday requested the Centre and others to file a reply on the plea difficult the Military’s promotion coverage formulated in 2017. The coverage says that officers holding the rank of Main Basic from the Intelligence Corps are particularly held to be ineligible for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Basic for Non-Basic Cadre Workers Stream vacancies (NGCSS).

A division bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Navin Chawla requested the Centre, Chief of Military Workers and Army Secretary to file their reply on the petition.

The petition was filed by Main Basic SS Khara by advocates Neela Gokhale, Kushal Choudhary. The petitioner, a Main Basic, holds the designation of Extra Directorate Basic (ADG) of Army Intelligence (B) within the Indian Military.

He has challenged the promotion coverage formulated by the respondents dated December 23, 2017, whereby the officers holding the rank of Main Basic from the Intelligence Corps are particularly held to be ineligible for consideration for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Basic for Non-Basic Cadre Workers Stream vacancies (NGCSS).

The petitioner mentioned that he’s being aggrieved by the “arbitrary and unreasonable coverage of the respondents”. He submitted that the Intelligence Corps is categorised as an arm within the Indian Military, together with different officers and troops of all different arms particularly Infantry, Mechanised Infantry, Armoured, Artillery, Indicators, Engineers, Military Air Defence, Military Aviation, and others.
