In 1969, John F. Kennedy’s dream of placing a person on the moon was realized, and it left New Yorkers spellbound. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed Apollo 11’s lunar module, the Eagle, on the Sea of Tranquility whereas Michael Collins remained in orbit.
