NEW DELHI: The Supreme Courtroom on Thursday mentioned that dying on account of custodial violence is abhorrent and never acceptable in a civilised society.
A bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and Ajay Rastogi mentioned: “The custodial violence on the deceased which led to the dying is abhorrent and never acceptable within the civilised society. The offence dedicated by the accused is a criminal offense not in opposition to the deceased alone however was in opposition to humanity and clear violations of rights assured underneath Article 21 of the Structure.”
The statement was made by the highest courtroom, because it declined to compound the 1988 offence of two Odisha policemen, accused of assaulting a person, who later succumbed to accidents.
