Assam Police arrested two individuals in Karimganj district on Friday for allegedly posing as CBI officers with a purpose to extort cash.
The arrested individuals have been recognized as Dilwar Hussain and Rashid Ahmed.
Partha Pratim Das, Extra Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district, mentioned that, on August 18, that they had acquired a grievance from a businessman from the Patharkandi space.
“The businessman had acquired an extortion name and the one who used to impersonate himself as a CBI officer had demanded Rs 2 lakh. Instantly we tracked the cell phone quantity and launched an operation and apprehended two individuals particularly Dilwar Hussain and Rashid Ahmed. Rashid Ahmed had used the cell phone of Dilwar Hussain and impersonated himself as a CBI officer,” Mr Das mentioned.
Police registered a case towards the duo. Additional investigation is underway.
